Preparing Your Kindle Countdown Deal

Preparing Your Kindle Countdown Deal

After a successful free kindle promotion, I am now preparing my first kindle countdown deal. Here’s how I’m doing it:

  1. I got 6 kindle books of the series uploaded on the kindle store (if someone likes my one dollar book they can immediately buy the other ones).
  2. I enrolled to kindle select.
  3. I checked the dates and I will launch the deal for a week in about two weeks time for $0.99 (the sites you submit to want to know in advance).
  4. I built my mailing list to around 1000 addresses so I have people I can tell about this deal.
  5. I prepared the list and will soon prepare the email via mail chimp.
  6. I built a Facebook page of over 10.000 book enthusiasts, so I can tell them.
  7. I am building a Goodreads community.
  8. I am researching sites I can promote this deal to (order by number of Facebook likes).

THE BIG FISH THAT PROMOTE YOUR KINDLE COUNTDOWN DEAL:

> BookBub  – 1,200,000 likes – the undisputed market leader (this book is too short for BookBub). If your book is not eligible for BookBub go for the following sites:

> EReader News Today  – 467,000 likes (Your book will need to have at least 10 reviews, a 4.0 star rating, be priced 99 cents or lower (but not a free book) and be available on Amazon.com. If we are going to post your book, we will let you know approximately 5 days before the promotion date. The cost for this service will be 25% of the earnings that you receive as a result of this posting.)

> Pixel of Ink  – 392,000 likes (you can submit your $0.99 kindle book 30 days in advance.)

> Bargainbooksy  – 106,000 likes. Fee $50.

Kindle boards – 60,000 likes. Lots of different advertising opportunities. 15-50 USD. (They also have an interesting SERIES promo option).

THE SMALLER FISH THAT PROMOTE YOUR COUNTDOWN DEAL:

Here are some more sites, which I used to announce my kindle deal:

Before you pay anybody for advertising – check their Facebook following – if they have 10.000 readers – go for it. If they have 50, I’d pass.

Remember, there is work you do well in advance (build your lists and communities), a little in advance (choose kindle select and promote the deal) and on launch day (use your mailing lists and communities to tell the whole world about your deal!) Then monitor, learn and launch another deal! 🙂

I will report out on how this went in three weeks, when the deal is over.
